5 Ways Precast Construction Cuts Project Timelines in Half

On the Meridian Residency Towers project, switching from cast-in-place RCC framing with brick infill to Thermocrete Precast Wall Panels cut eight weeks off an already tight programme. Here is where that time actually came from.
- No formwork cycle. Panels arrive cured and ready to erect — no waiting for concrete to gain strength on site.
- Parallel manufacturing. Panels for upper floors were being cast while lower floors were still being erected.
- Weather independence. Curing happens in the factory, not exposed to site conditions.
- Fewer trades on the critical path. Wet-trade labour for blockwork and plaster was largely removed from the sequence.
- Predictable crane cycles. Erection became a repeatable, plannable operation rather than a variable one.
The trade-off: precast requires design finalisation earlier in the programme, since panels are manufactured to a fixed design. Projects that get their design locked early see the biggest time savings.
